I was born in Jozi (Johannesburg) but am since a converted Capetonian! I have been fortunate enough to live in the three major cities in South Africa, being Johannesburg, Durban, and finally Cape Town.

Why are you passionate about tourism?

Having the confidence in how beautiful my country is and being able to get my guests here!  Then once they have arrived, following them through their journey and seamless Africa vacation and finally saying goodbye. That is my passion. It’s so rewarding making dreams come true and educating guests that live in built-up cities about our sensational wildlife and exceptional natural spaces.

What is your favourite travel experience?

Travelling expands your mind.  You get to see things you do not see at home.  You get to experience diverse cultures, food and learn so much. It’s about creating memories that you will always cherish; sometimes you go back for more, other times you say never again!

But in all my travels, I have always been severely homesick.

South Africa is a country like no other, we have the most incredible wildlife, suburban life, birdlife and incredible people. I have travelled extensively in South Africa and have been so fortunate to have lived in three different provinces. I now live on the mountain overlooking the Atlantic and Indian Ocean in a humble home, down the road from an amazing nature reserve, where I can see zebra, kudu and caracal, or go into the city at just a 45minute drive for a razzle!

What is something you never go without on safari?

A buff for dust, a hat for the sun and sunblock.  But factor 100, as the African sun is hot.  I would also wear closed comfortable shoes so you can walk if you need to. Remember your bird book, so you can learn to identify birds.

I am a keen photographer, so I always take an extra charged battery, all my lenses and a bean bag for the edge of the vehicle to get stability. You will not be sorry for that golden hour!

What is the most thrilling sighting you have experienced on safari?

So many thrilling stories to tell, but if I had to choose my top experience, it would be watching a Cape cobra in a sociable weaver nest in the Kalahari having an exceptionally long lunch. We sat for two hours and watched him slink in and out of this incredible nest eating the chicks. That is nature! When he was full, he slid down the tree and slowly moved into a safe place with a total food coma!

What is your favourite sundowner drink on safari?

I am not fussy, but I do enjoy Amarula with lots of ice!

What is your favourite beach in Africa?

This is a secret, the locals don’t really like sharing this little piece of heaven, but my favourite swim in the sea is called Wooley’s Tidal Pool, just before Fish Hoek beach in Cape Town. But my favourite beach is Massinga beach in Mozambique.

What is your favourite animal and why?

I am a cat person, so anything feline gets my heart racing. I adore lions, leopards, cheetahs and have even seen a serval in the wild. Felines are incredibly affectionate and are fascinating to watch.
