Modern meets Colonial Old-World Safari, and it works.
I grin when I remember my stay at Zimbabwe’s Stanley & Livingstone Hotel. Even now.
The stately, yet luxurious Stanley and Livingstone Boutique Hotel is situated on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls, and offers guided Victoria Falls tours, game drives, and hikes with experienced guides. When you’re not touring, unwind in the hotel’s exquisite spa or swim in the African bushveld pool – enjoying the magnificent views.
All of the luxury suites feature furnished terraces in peaceful settings. Terraces vary in privacy. Canopied beds and slipper bathtubs make Victorian exploring truly romantic! Plus, your accommodation overlooks the waterhole, regularly frequented by a variety of game.
For the active, guided walks, horseback riding, and wildlife safaris are all available to guests. For relaxation, the hotel has a spa and wellness centre – which I so enjoyed for some special downtime.
The 1871 restaurant boasts modern green panelling, custom-patterned wallpaper, and fine table sets, allowing dining on the terrace with the best view. Summer rolls, vegan poke bowls, and burgers and gourmet sandwiches make lunches fresh, delicious, and wholesome. Dinner includes venison, mushroom risotto, Zambezi bream, and other meats and vegetables. All meticulously plated with such precision and love. The food is sublime!
Seasonal cuisines introduce African flavours. So, Mozambique prawns and chocolate fondant with Amarula ice cream are among the offerings. Book a table in the wine cellar or under the Waterberry Tree if you are on honeymoon – a must for romantics!
The Chef will gladly make you something special; I got the feeling that nothing was too little or too big for anyone at the Stanley & Livingstone. Hotel Manager Dionne and Daisy, who are many of the beautiful friendly smiles that warm you as you arrive to the minute you leave. The service is excellent.
This boutique hotel is a short drive from the action of the Falls, where you can enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, and thrilling activities offered by the “Smoke that Thunders”, however its hidden advantage is you can join a game drive directly from the location. We saw a 3 of the Big Five, it was thrilling and very exciting! And as we enjoyed our sundowner and snacks at the watering hole, watching the sun disappear, a hippo grunted away making this safari really special.
Elegant decor, exquisite dining, and thrilling wildlife experiences make the hotel a magnificent vacation into Victoria Falls. Chat to us today to book your Vic Falls safari.
