Your Itinerary
2 nights in Tarangire National Park
After a short flight from Kilimanjaro Airport to Tarangire, you will spend your next two days exploring the spectacular Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is slightly off the main safari circuit and thus provides a wonderful, uncrowded experience. It is also one of the most scenic parks in Northern Tanzania, with diverse landscapes including African savannah, open woodlands, grassy green hills and rivers.
Tarangire is well known for its high density of elephants, striking baobab trees and tree-climbing lions – a particularly unusual sight in most parks! Your lodge, Little Oliver’s Camp, is situated high up on the escarpment with exceptional views of the valley and perennial Tarangire River below.
DINING SUGGESTIONS
If you’d like to spend more time out in the bush, we can arrange for a special dinner under the African night sky.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Little Oliver’s Camp
Little Oliver’s is a well–spaced lodge, offering a feeling of exclusivity and intimacy. The camp design and atmosphere provide a classic bush experience, with the surrounding nature and wildlife. The spacious luxury tents overlook the Minyonyo floodplains.
2 nights in Ngorongoro Crater
Depart Tarangire today on a small aircraft to Manyara airstrip, where you’ll then enjoy a drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to The Highlands.
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest natural calderas in the world, rich in animal and birdlife; indeed, it provides one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa.
Enjoy one full day crater tour while at The Highlands, a truly unique lodge that has canvas geodesic domed suites as part of its makeup. Explore the indigenous forest areas that are inhabited by monkey and elephant, the vast lake area, where you may see pink-hued flamingos and the open savannah where big cats, lion and cheetah, may be spotted on the hunt.
DINING SUGGESTIONS
Guests gather in the early evening around the campfire to exchange tales of the day’s safari and to enjoy a sunset drink. This is followed by a classic hearty safari-style meal in the main dining area.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY
The Highlands
Set on the lush slopes of Olmoti Volcano, The Highlands has sweeping views right across to the Serengeti. This inviting and contemporary lodge is the perfect spot from which to explore the Crater Highlands; we recommend a nightcap in the unique ‘whiskey dome’.
3 nights in Serengeti National Park
From the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll head into the Serengeti National Park by small aircraft to Dunia Camp. Dunia is situated in the central Serengeti, and is well placed for wildlife spotting, being surrounded by miles of golden savannah, flush with game.
The safari comes right to Dunia, with the migrating wildebeest herds regularly passing the camp during season. Outside of the migration, there’s plenty more opportunity for game viewing too.
The Seronera River is a gathering place for a variety of wildlife, providing ample opportunity for spotting predators in action. The Moru Kopjes are a cluster of old granite boulders, favoured by big cats that like to use them as lookout points.
You might even spot the rare and endangered black rhino. The southern plains are covered in lush grass between December and May, ideal for calving wildebeest.
DINING SUGGESTIONS
Lunch is a light buffet at camp or packed up for those who want to spend a full day out in the bush. A relaxed dinner is served at camp after the evening game drive, or opt to have a bush dinner under the stars.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Dunia Camp
Dunia is a simple yet graceful camp that reflects the philosophy of leaving the lightest footprint while enhancing the Serengeti wilderness experience. Slightly elevated on the slope of Nyareboro Hill, Dunia features a veranda from which magnificent views of the golden-grassed plains of the Serengeti unfold.
