Your unforgettable journey begins in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya and a city rich in history. Get your culture fix in Nairobi’s museums, galleries, markets and shopping centres. Visit the Nairobi National Museum, the Nairobi Railways Museum, the Nairobi Gallery, and the Karen Blixen Museum, all within easy reach of your accommodation at Giraffe Manor – your home for the night and the only place in the world where you can feed and photograph giraffe over your breakfast table, view them from your front door and watch them from your bedroom window!

Your journey continues to Samburu National Reserve, which promises a safari experience unlike anywhere else in Kenya. At Sasaab Lodge, your home for the next two nights, your interactions with the locals will enrich your safari with cultural authenticity. Then there’s the opportunity to enjoy a picnic on the crest of the Out of Africa kopje, the very same site where the romantic tale was filmed, and which is featured on the movie’s poster. Climb the hill to discover an old-world picnic scene: checked blanket, comfy cushions, safari canvas chairs, wicker picnic basket, sparkling wine on ice… and that view.

Inspired by what camp chefs might have cooked in the early days of being on safari, Angama Mara’s chefs prepare classic safari food, perfectly cooked and freshly made, beautifully and simply presented, and using only the best and freshest ingredients.
Choose to dine on the deck of your tented suite, at the lodge, beside the pool, or in the shade of a lone tree surrounded by majestic scenery. Afternoon tea is served at the lodge and features the classics: cucumner sandwiches and scones. Toast the sunset with an East African mojito, known as a dawa, in the Maasai boma.

From your luxury Serengeti accommodation at Mwiba Lodge, adventure calls. You can look forward to classic safari experiences, from dining under the stars and exploring the magnificent Serengeti plains to bushwalks with a guide and luxe picnics under acacia trees. Structure your days as you please: head out before dawn and enjoy a sunrise picnic breakfast, returning to lodge in time for lunch. Alternatively, you eat breakfast at the lodge and lunch in the bush. A day trip to Ndutu is also on the menu, should you wish to explore the southern plains.

Expect superb cuisine, beautifully presented at Mwiba Lodge. The inviting breakfast buffet typically consists of plenty of fruit, fresh bread, cereals, cold meats and hot items cooked to order. Lunch is served at the lodge, but you can also choose to have it out in the bush if you’d rather be out all day, while dinner is a three-course affair, served indoors or out, or on your private deck.
