Few Namibia attractions are as evocative as the Skeleton Coast, named after the many ships that ran aground here over the centuries.
On a low-level scenic flight, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the haunting shores and the famous Eduard Bohlen shipwreck.
You’ll continue east over the desert to land at the Kuidas camp in the Huab River Valley, where you will stay for the night.

Located on Skeleton Coast, in the Huab River Valley, on a rocky bluff overlooking the sparse and intensely beautifully moon-like landscape of Damaraland, environmentally conscious Kuidas Camp is constructed from local woods and reeds. The communal area is serviced by a bush bar, and evenings are spent around a campfire.
1 night in Purros, Skeleton Coast
After breakfast, depart by Land Rover to explore the colourful red lava and yellow sandstone of the Huab River before flying to Terrace Bay in the Skeleton Coast Park, seeking out the Montrose and Henrietta shipwrecks.
Following a thrilling Land Rover dune driving experience, you’ll visit the beach with its profusion of multicoloured pebbles. Interesting to see are old bleached whale bones scattered along the beach above the high tide mark.

1 night in Kunene
A scenic drive along the Hoarusib Valley will take you to visit a settlement of the nomadic Himba people. Enroute, you may even be lucky enough to come across the desert-dwelling elephant who frequent this valley.
Your journey continues north along the Skeleton Coast by aircraft to the Kunene River, to arrive at your accommodation in the late afternoon.
While you’re up in the air, keep your eyes on the shore to see the Kaiu Maru shipwreck and pieces from old sailing vessels scattered along the coastline.

If it’s adventure you’re after, take flight in a hot air balloon, or go sand boarding, fishing or sightseeing in and around Swakopmund.
