Set against the backdrop of the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the southern reaches of Kenya, the open plains and acacia woodlands of the Amboseli National Park are home to a staggering variety of wildlife, most notably Masaai giraffe and over 1,000 elephants (some of the largest in Africa). The birding is excellent too, especially closer to the lakes and swamps.
From your luxury tented accommodation at Elewana Tortilis Camp, you have the opportunity to explore the park on private game drives and guided bush walks. If you are interested in Africa’s varied cultures and traditions, a true highlight of your stay here is meeting the Maasai people, known for their bright red tunics, jumping feats and intricate jewellery.
